University of San Agustin Architecture Alumni Association: Celebrating 65 Years of Legacy and Connection
The University of San Agustin Architecture Alumni Association (USA AAA) proudly marks its 65th Grand Alumni Homecoming with the theme, “USA AAA @ 65: Reconnect-Recognize-Reminisce.” This milestone celebration promises two days of meaningful reflection, recognition, and joyful reunion, uniting alumni and students in honoring their shared heritage and envisioning the future.
Preparations for the event began with a courtesy visit on December 20, 2024, to Father President Arnel Dizon, OSA. The organizing committee, led by Alumni President Ar. Gil Vergara Japitana, includes VP for Programs & Development Ar. Adonis Canonicato, VP for Operations Cylvin Padlan Siron, Treasurer Ar. Cherryl Faith Yap Gomez, Auditor Mr. Johnson Anacita Ong, Ex Officio Ar. Wilfredo Sy, Jr., Board of Directors Ar. Ryan Bedia, Ar. Harold Hopilos, and Members Ar. Roderick Tiamson, and Ar. Anthonei Jude Yap Andrada. The meeting with Father President also emphasized the commitment of USA Alumni Architects to extend their professional expertise in architectural consultancy, offering their services to assist the university. This collaborative gesture highlights their dedication to supporting their Alma Mater, reducing the need to seek external architectural resources.
This visit was followed by a press conference at Sta. Monica Hotel, attended by event sponsors and media representatives.
The celebration will kick off on February 7, 2025, with a Holy Mass at the University of San Agustin Chapel, led by USA Chaplain Fr. Detoyato. The opening of the USA Architecture Exhibit at the USA Archive & Museum follows, curated by USA Archivist Fr. Dominador Besares. This month-long exhibit, running until March 7, 2025, showcases the works of USA alumni architects and miniature models by second-year architecture students under Ar. Adonis Canonicato’s Design 3 class. Themed “Parametric Horizons: A Glimpse into Future Urban Living,” the exhibit highlights the students’ innovative exploration of urban design.
A nostalgic Foot Parade from the Chapel to the Sta. Monica Lobby, featuring alumni banners, will add to the day’s festivities. Registration, facilitated by UAPSA members Ms. Ayenne Quialquial and Ms. Honeylette Brillantes, will take place at the Sta. Monica Function Hall. The morning program will include speeches from the Dean of the College of Technology, Dean Geoff Coo, and USA AAA President Ar. Gil Japitana, as well as a presentation of alumni from various decades. The morning will end with “Tsika-tsika Time,” an informal gathering over coffee, tea, and acoustic music, sponsored by RJ Landoy.
The afternoon will bring lively activities such as an open mic session at KTV, where wine and spirits from different decades are shared, and Shiesta Bingo, a game session with exciting prizes. The evening’s highlight will be a dinner sponsored by Boysen, followed by a mini concert titled “NO ROOMS, The Saga Continues,” featuring Ar. Wilfredo “Tisoy” Sy and his band, with opportunities for alumni to join the jam session.
The celebration will then continue on February 8, 2025, with a General Assembly and Business Meeting at the Sta. Monica Function Hall, sponsored by Island Paint. This formal gathering, attended in smart casual attire, includes discussions on the association’s initiatives and a sponsored lunch.
The event will conclude with a grand Culminating Night at Diversion 21’s JR Hall, sponsored by DAVIES. This formal affair will feature the induction of new officers, an Awards Night, and a Fellowship Night, complete with an open bar to ensure a memorable end to the celebration.
Through this diverse program, the University of San Agustin Architecture Alumni Association honors its rich legacy while fostering deeper connections among alumni, students, and the broader community, paving the way for a vibrant future.
